Motivation Prize

Berta Dávila, born in Santiago de Compostela in 1987, is among the most prolific writers on the Iberian Peninsula. Her literary career in the Galician language is marked by constant critical recognition. From the outset, she has shown extraordinary maturity and literary sensitivity, winning the Biblos de Novela Prize for young authors. Her poetic production reached its peak with “Raíz da fenda”, a work that has garnered such prestigious awards as the Johán Carballeira Prize for Poetry, the Spanish Critics’ Prize and the Galician Language Writers’ Association Prize. On her own literary expression, the young Galician writer expresses an original vision of life. Aware of the Galician literary tradition, Berta Dávila contributes to keeping it alive, combining memory and innovation and transforming literature into a cultural bridge between generations and territories. Berta also stands out for her editorial commitment: she directs the independent publishing house Rodolfo e Priscila and the “Rúado Lagarto” series of Euseino Editores. His work has reached a wide audience thanks to translations into Castilian, Catalan and Italian, confirming the horizons of his literary work.

The Youth Prize is awarded to her for her exceptional trajectory as a writer and poet, for her ability to renew the literary language with an authentic and original voice, and for her contribution to the dissemination of literature in the Galician language beyond its natural borders.
